Cristina Polidori: Complexity and Disentanglement of Frailty

Abstract: Frailty is more than a sum of deficits - it is a dynamic state emerging from complex, interconnected systems that lose their capacity to adapt. Building on existing knowledge and own studies, this talk explores how disentangling biological, cognitive, and social layers can reveal hidden pathways driving vulnerability in aging. By moving beyond linear models, we uncover patterns that may allow earlier detection and more precise interventions. Understanding frailty through the lens of complexity opens the door to rethinking resilience and intrinsic capacity themselves.
